Exhorting excellence in Extra-Curriculars

Extracurricular activities have always been that necessary component of a well-rounded education – outside the regular academic programme – that positively impact students’ pursuit of knowledge and career. We at Extra-C strongly believe in the age-old adage that all work and no play will make Jack a dull boy. Our motto, therefore, is ‘Exhorting Excellence in Extra-Curriculars’.

Some of the many benefits which such activities lead to are holistic and all-round development, raising self-esteem and better time management. Our activities range from crosswords, quiz contests, debates, drama and plays to cricket, football, chess among various other outdoor and indoor games..

Providing a platform for quality extra-curricular pursuits

A not-for-profit-organisation, Extra-C came into existence on June 26, 2013 and since then has become a byword for quality in terms of providing a platform for quality extra-curricular pursuits.

As its focus area, Extra-C’s mission is to promote crosswords among the youth and the adult alike, for they go a long way in enhancing vocabulary, analytical skills and lateral thinking.

Results of our efforts have been encouraging. The idea of a national-level inter-school cryptic crossword contest that we experimented with in 2013 was appreciated and adopted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and for the past three years the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest conducted by us has become one of the most sought after events in schools across India.

CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest

The second edition of national-level inter-school cryptic crossword contest in 2014 saw participation from about 850 schools across India.

The Central Broad of Secondary Education in collaboration with Extra-C, initiated the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest in the year 2014. The CCCC is the world’s biggest and nation’s premier crossword testing platform for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake the habit of solving crossword puzzles. This contest is open to students of Class IX to XII, of CBSE, CISCE and state board schools..
